A Platform for Packet Capture and
High Frequency Trading Applications
High-Frequency Trading accounts for as much as 75% of equity trades in the US. Accurate and timely data has always been at the very heart of the global trading system.
Over the past 10 years the trading community has made huge advances in both system and network design in its drive to acquire more information more quickly. Network performance and reduced network latency have now become key components in gaining a competitive edge in transaction trading.
Endace provides highly accurate network monitoring, time stamping and recording capability that enables high-frequency traders to monitor, measure, and analyze critical network environments. Endace’s nano-second level time stamping accuracy and multi-site timing guarantees the absolute real-time accuracy of every packet’s time stamp regardless of where in the world that packet was observed.
This technology allows High-Frequency Traders to record their trade data to meet regulatory obligations, troubleshoot even ultra-short-lived (microburst) performance issues, and playback trading data for tuning trade algorithms.
Under most financial securities laws (such as RegNMS, MiFID and MiFID II), high-frequency traders must archive a highly accurate record of every transaction they are involved in.
Monitoring market feeds and troubleshooting network performance issues is critical in an environment where milliseconds of delay can mean millions of dollars gained or lost.
With access to a nanosecond-accurate, packet-level history of all trades and feeds, analysts can quickly get to the bottom of issues such as microbursts and latency and optimize network performance.
Optimizing trade algorithms is what gives traders the competitive edge.
With a complete, nanosecond accurate copy of trade data at hand, analysts can replay yesterday's trades exactly as they occurred so they can tune algorithms accurately.
How Provenance Helps MiFID II Compliance
Traders are facing increasingly tough regulations with respect to accurately recording and archiving their trade data.
Under MiFID 2’s new RTS 25 regulations for example, clocks used for time stamping must be accurately synchronized to Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), and accurate to within levels specified for different types of trades. For high-frequency algorithmic trading, the precision of timestamps applied to trade data must be one microsecond or better, and the maximum allowable divergence from UTC is 100 microseconds.
Precision time-stamping is not new. Endace has been doing it for years, and so have other vendors. But that's not the difficult part of complying with regulatory demands such as MiFID II's RTS 25.
The difficult part is being able to track that the time stamping remains accurate over the entire trading period despite changes that might occur in the trading environment. And being able to record that in order to demonstrate compliance. And that's where Endace's Provenance™ can help.
Provenance is a feature of EndaceProbe™ Analytics Platform and Endace DAG Cards that automatically writes contextual metadata into recorded network traffic every second.
Included in that data is the detailed timing information that traders need to be able to satisfy RTS 25's requirements.
EndaceFabric™ connects multiple EndaceProbe Analytics Platforms to form a network-wide packet recording and analytics hosting fabric that can scale to thousands of monitoring points.
EndaceProbe Analytics Platform
The EndaceProbe™ Analytics Platform is the industry's only fully open packet capture and analytics platform. Deploy and host your chosen analytics tools on-demand without a truck-roll.
EndaceCMS™ Central Management Servers provide centralized administration for the connected appliances in the EndaceFabric. Available as a VM or a physical appliance.
EndaceConsole™ is a lightweight virtual server application that provides easy search and retrieval of Network History from across the network.
EndaceVision and EndacePackets
EndaceVision™ allows analysts to search for packet history, visualize traffic patterns, zoom in and out, apply filters and examine packets-of-interest in EndacePackets™.
Both EndaceVision and EndacePackets come standard on every EndaceProbe
