Endace Targets High Volume Applications with Customer Programmable Product Range

Endace Limited (the "Company" or "Endace") (AIM : EDA), a world leader in the acceleration of network security and analysis applications, today announced that it is releasing two new products that build on the Company's industry-leading Data Acquisition and Generation (DAG) technology. These products answer the demands of the two fastest growing network markets, Gigabit Ethernet and 10 Gigabit Ethernet.

The first product is the 'Data Stream Manager' (DSM) firmware. This provides advanced filtering and preprocessing of data in Endace's DAG network monitoring cards. DAG cards equipped with the DSM are uniquely able to combine three key functions; inspecting 100% of the traffic on links up to maximum capacity 10 Gigabit speeds, selectively capturing traffic flows, and sharing the analysis work between multiple CPUs and applications (load balancing). This functionality enables far deeper analysis of network traffic than was previously possible, and is especially valuable to the Lawful Intercept and Network Intrusion Detection (IDS) markets.

Endace's initial focus was on delivering 100% of the network traffic to customers' software applications. However at current network speeds the software applications simply can not cope with the volume of data and the depth of analysis required. For this reason Endace is now adding user-programmable DSM functionality even into its standard range of DAG cards.

DSM functionality is vital at the faster 10 Gigabit speeds, where even powerful servers with advanced software struggle to analyse the sheer volume of data required in network security applications. By selectively filtering out unwanted data after inspection, the DSM allows only desired data to be forwarded to analysis applications, significantly accelerating system performance.

The second product group is an advanced series of Gigabit DAG network monitoring cards, which provide 100% data capture on up to four Gigabit network links simultaneously. These cards also include the DSM functionality. This new series of DAG cards provides a cost-effective solution to Endace customers that need to monitor many network links.

Additionally, there is a 'failsafe' version for 'in-line' operation. This capability is a necessity for active network appliances such as firewalls and Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS), a rapidly growing market segment which is now a target market for Endace. The series also includes low profile models for space restricted servers typically used in Telecommunications and ISP Networks.

Endace CEO Selwyn Pellett commented on the release of the new products, saying, "These new products target specific high volume customer requirements in the advancing global network security and analysis market. Our new architecture is modular and scalable enabling us to rapidly meet specific customer needs and address the emerging 40 Gigabit market and beyond. Our strategy to be the platform of choice for Network Security Specialists is well on track with the release of these new products."
