Firmware

  • Proficient in VHDL
  • Able to apply best practice in VHDL and system design
  • Proven ability to develop, test and debug FPGA firmware for high performance systems
  • Scripting skills in either:
    • Perl
    • Bash
    • Python
  • C programming
  • Good board-level debugging
  • Working knowledge of PC hardware and system issues
  • Working knowledge of computer networks and protocols

Software

Cards

  • Excellent C programming ability with a clear well-documented coding style
  • Excellent cross-platform development skills
  • Working knowledge of the POSIX API and C Standard Library, including threads and sockets
  • Proven experience of design and development of cross-platform APIs (multiple operating systems)
  • Working knowledge of Open Source tools:
    • Autoconf
    • Automake
    • Cvs
    • Gcc
    • Gbd
    • Gprof
    • Make
  • Working knowledge of IP-based networking protocols
  • Good general understanding of computer systems, software and hardware performance issues
  • Good general understanding of UNIX-based operating systems

Appliances

  • Software design skills using C, C++ in a Linux environment
  • Proven experience in software development for network-related problems in the area of high -performance programming
  • Working knowledge of IP-based networking protocols
  • Good general understanding of Linux computer systems, software and hardware performance issues

Hardware

  • Proven experience and expertise in Electronic Hardware Design specialising in digital design with deep knowledge of:
    • High-Speed Multilayer PCB's
    • Transmission lines
    • Signal integrity
  • Proven experience and expertise in the design of electronic systems equipment with knowledge of DFM and EMC
  • Expertise in Schematic capture and PCB layout using Mentor Power PCB tools

Systems

  • Scripting skills:
    • Perl
    • Python
    • Bash or similar
  • Good working knowledge of Linux environments
  • Experience of systems architecture and design for performance
  • C/C++
  • Linux OS Administration
  • Unix Administration
  • Linux/Unix packaging management systems
  • IT infrastructure
  • Virtualisation
  • Knowledge of disk-based storage systems
  • Enterprise server systems
  • Customising Linux distributions
  • CCNA

GUI

  • Software design skills using C or similar language
  • Experience in Java, or Ajax-web GUI development
  • Experience in the Telecoms marketplace.
  • Experienced commercial developer
  • Working knowledge of the POSIX API and C Standard Library, including threads and sockets
  • Working knowledge of Open Source tools:
    • autoconf
    • automake
    • Cvs
    • gcc
    • gdb
    • Gprof
    • make

Network Testing

  • Proven test and qualification experience with networking technology
  • Familiarity with monitoring applications such as NetFlow, Snort, Wireshark
  • CCNA, CCNP or equivalent qualification
  • Broad knowledge of computer systems and computer networking.
  • Programming skills in:
    • C
    • UNIX shell
    • TCL
    • Java
    • Python,
    • Perl
  • Good knowledge of telecommunications
  • In depth knowledge of system and software testing methodologies such as ISTQB
  • Knowledge of operating systems including Linux and Windows
  • Strong customer perspective values

Product Management

  • Proven experience in either product management / product marketing or hardware development in a telecommunications/ISP/IT hardware/network appliance or networking company
  • Experience in working with engineering teams through to delivery of specified products
  • Experience in technical product definition
  • Experience in dealing with large international customers
  • Experience in taking networking or IT hardware products to market and managing the product lifecycle
  • Strong analytical, numeric and commercial skills
  • Strong project management and negotiation skills
  • Experience in customer, market and competitive analysis
  • Good presentation and people management skills
  • Good interpersonal skills, a team player with exposure to geographically distant teams and customers
  • Attention to detail
