DAG 3.8S Dual port Network Monitoring Card

Dag 5.4 product shot

The Endace® DAG® 3.8S Network Monitoring Card provides 1.244 Gbps sustained lossless traffic capture on SONET/SDH OC-3/STM-1c and OC-12/STM-4c Packet-Over-SONET (POS) and ATM networks. With the power to see all traffic even on high speed links operating at full line utilization, the DAG 3.8S enables operators to develop solutions that inspect all network traffic for security threats, and precisely measure network performance and latency to improve end user experience.

CoProcess or Application: IP Filtering

  • Requires an Endace DAG CoProcessor expansion card that uses no additional bus slots.
  • Receive, classify, and drop or capture packets based on network layer 2 and 3 header information. For example, packets can be captured based on IPv4 and TCP headers.
  • Supports HDLC Packet-Over-SONET and Compressed PPP encapsulations.
  • Allows for 8,192 filtering rules, with up to 4,096 active rules per port in dual port mode.
  • Performs on the fly ’hitless’ rule changes with zero packet loss.
  • Each rule allows every packet to be compared against a search key and dropped, captured or duplicated using either full or header only capture.

CoProcess or Application: ATM Adaptation Layer 5 (AAL5) Reasembly

  • Requires an Endace DAG CoProcessor expansion card that uses no additional bus slots.
  • Hardware based AAL5 Reassembly assists with the monitoring of highly utilized ATM links by shifting intensive computation from the CPU to the Endace DAG Coprocesssor.
  • Supports up to 65,536 simultaneously active Virtual Paths (VP) / Virtual Connections (VC).
  • Supports simultaneous reassembly of up to 65,536 AAL5 frames.
  • Reassembly buffers are configurable between 2K and 64K bytes.
  • Performs automatic VP/VC discovery and state management.
  • Selected VP/VCs may be excluded by the application interface.
  • Supports 100% cell reassembly on 2x OC3/STM-1c or 2x OC12/ STM-4c.
  • Rich statistics, counters, and timeouts.
